Al-Jihad has 6,000 missiles in its arsenal


Israeli planes launched a series of raids on the Gaza Strip in the early hours of dawn and this morning (Saturday), and the Palestinian factions responded by firing missile barrages, in the conflict that has been going on between the two sides for five days.

Israeli National Security Adviser Tzachi Hanegbi said today, Saturday, that the Palestinian Islamic Jihad movement has 6,000 rockets in its arsenal, and that Hamas has four times that number.

Hanegbi added that Israel is focusing more on shooting gunmen in Gaza at the present time than on reaching a cease-fire that will end the latest round of cross-border fighting that began on Tuesday. In a related context, the Palestinian factions responded by firing rocket barrages from five o’clock until seven o’clock in the morning, and warning sirens sounded in the settlements around the Gaza Strip, according to Ma’an Agency.


On the other hand, Riyad Mansour, the permanent representative of Palestine to the United Nations, called for serious and rapid measures to be taken to protect the Palestinian people and ensure their security, “and to end the illegal Israeli colonial occupation and the apartheid regime that caused much human suffering for decades and prevented the achievement of peace.” and just and lasting security in the region.

Mansour stressed the need for the international community to act to protect the Palestinian civilian population, and “to deter further crimes by Israel, which requires concrete measures of accountability.” He also urged all states to strive to achieve these two goals, collectively and individually, in line with their obligations. under international law, including the High Contracting Parties to the Fourth Geneva Convention, and to ensure that it is respected in all circumstances.

This came in 3 identical messages sent by Mansour yesterday (Friday) to the Secretary-General of the United Nations, the President of the Security Council for this month (Switzerland), and the President of the United Nations General Assembly, regarding the military attack that Israel (the occupying power) continues to launch on the Strip. besieged Gaza.

Today, the Palestinian Wafa news agency reported that Mansour noted in his letters the death of no less than 33 Palestinian citizens, including children and women, and the injury of more than 106 Palestinian citizens, including 32 children and 17 women, some of whom are in critical condition. homes and other civilian infrastructure on a large scale, displacement of Palestinian families and loss of their homes and means of livelihood.

Mansour pointed out that the Israeli aggression has exacerbated the painful humanitarian situation of the Palestinian civilian population besieged in Gaza for 16 years, in serious violation of international humanitarian law and human rights law, and to the displacement of Palestinian families in Gaza once again from their homes due to the devastating Israeli attacks.

Mansour said that since the beginning of 2023, “more than 140 Palestinian citizens have been martyred at the hands of the Israeli occupation forces and Israeli settlers in the Occupied Palestinian Territory, including East Jerusalem, which shows a systematic pattern of violations committed by Israel of the rights of Palestinian children, especially their right to life, for which Israel must take full responsibility, including by including the Israeli occupation forces and terrorist settler groups on the special list of violators of children’s rights.”
