In the details of the incident reported by “Sky News”, Sophie, 34, and Danielle, 32, chose a clinic in Istanbul, hoping to perform abdominoplasty and liposuction operations quickly and easily.
Sophie, a mother of two, collapsed and died two days after the surgery, while Danielle had a very painful septic wound in her stomach.
“I now know that going abroad for cheap surgery simply isn’t worth it,” Danielle said. “I’m so grateful to be alive.”
Sophie first announced her plans to go abroad for the surgery in January 2022 and promised her family that she would do a lot of research.

After reading reviews in specialist Facebook groups, friends were under the impression that having surgery there would provide them with better care than in the UK.
Sophie’s sister says her sister felt safe because she was told, “The surgeon is very good, she was really excited to go and get the operation done.”
