A negative test for the Green Falcons, less than two months after entering the FIFA rankings from the 171st place
The result of the Palestine friendlies was not the best for the Saudi women’s team after entering the FIFA world rankings last March.
The ladies of Al-Akhdar decided the two matches against Palestine in the city of Jeddah in a draw, the first negative without goals and the other with a goal for the same.
This brings the tally of the Saudi national team to 15 goals in 11 matches, four of which ended in victory, compared to 5 draws and two defeats.
How did the goals come about?
The Saudi women’s team opened the scoring in the 18th minute through Lin Muhammad, after the absence of control from the Palestine defense, after a corner kick by Lana Abdel-Razzaq.
--The Palestinian national team equalized the score at the 69th minute by attacking Miral Qassis, after a joint mistake between Sarah Khaled, the Saudi goalkeeper, and Raghad Mukhizen, the team’s defender.
What is waiting for the Saudi national team?
After winning the first title of the “Friendly Championship” in January 2023, the Falcons are preparing to participate in the Arab Women’s Cup, which several reports indicated will be held on the territory of the Kingdom during the current year, with the participation of the Arab Federation teams.
While it is expected in the next few months to announce the host of the 2026 Asian Nations Cup, which Saudi Arabia submitted a request to organize last December.
The Saudi file faces competition from Australia, the host country for the 2006 edition, and Uzbekistan, which has never hosted the tournament.
