A gang of two people exploited some children for begging in the streets of Sheikh Zayed City, Giza Governorate. The young age of the accused children did not prevent them from exploiting them to beg citizens in the streets without mercy.

“Al-Watan” reviews the full story of the child exploitation gang, according to what was announced by the Ministry of Interior, and the defendants’ confessions before the investigation authorities.

Formation of a child exploitation gang

According to the defendants’ confessions during the interrogation session, the defendants agreed to form a gang, and together they started walking in the streets to search for homeless children in the streets, in an attempt to attract them into the gang.

After a long search trip in the streets, the accused gathered 3 children, and taught them how they could beg the citizens and get money from them, and they used to leave the children daily in the streets of Sheikh Zayed City, then they would get the money that the children had collected and give them their share of it.

The arrest of the accused

Yesterday, Thursday, the Ministry of the Interior announced the arrest of those accused of forming a gang and exploiting children in begging in Sheikh Zayed.

Lawyer Muhammad Thabet says, regarding the legal punishment awaiting the accused, that Article No. 291 of the Penal Code stipulates that every violation of a child’s right to protection from trafficking, sexual, commercial, or economic exploitation, or its use in research and scientific experiments, is punishable by the person. Temporary imprisonment for a period of no less than 5 years and a fine of no less than 50,000 pounds and no more than 200,000 pounds.
