DUBAI, May 12, 2020 (WAM) — The International Volleyball Federation has chosen Emirati referee Hamid Al-Roussi to participate in officiating the matches of the new edition of the Volleyball Nations League 2023 for the tenth time.
The Russian is considered one of the best volleyball referees in the world today, as he was ranked among the best volleyball referees at the continental and international levels, which qualified him to gain the confidence of the International Federation and participated in managing many international and international matches.
The Russian will participate in managing the matches of the first week of the women’s competitions that will be hosted by the Turkish city of Antalya from May 30 to June 4, which includes 8 teams: Italy, the United States, Serbia, Thailand, Poland, South Korea, Canada and Turkey.
After that, he will run the third week matches for men, in Anaheim, California, which includes 8 teams: France, Argentina, Serbia, Germany, Cuba, Iran, Bulgaria and the United States, and these competitions qualify for the final round of the tournament.
Then the Russian will be in the Women’s Nations League final in Texas, USA, in Arlington, from 12 to 26 July.
The Russian expressed his happiness with this precious trust from the International Federation, which is reflected positively on the level of volleyball arbitration in the UAE.
He said: “My presence at the level of the world championships is a source of permanent pride for me, especially since I consider myself a representative of the UAE volleyball in these international tournaments and forums, and also an ambassador for the Gulf and Arab volleyball.”
He stressed that what he had achieved embodies the responsibility of the Football Federation in strengthening and supporting the arbitration cadres at the international level.
He said, “It is an honor for me to participate in these international forums and to contribute to raising the UAE flag in various parts of the world.”
He explained that the International Federation also entrusted him with the tasks of participating in managing the men’s final qualifiers for the Olympic Games “Paris 2024” during the period from September 30 to October 8, which includes the national teams of Argentina, Belgium, Bulgaria, Canada, China, Mexico and the Netherlands. and Poland.
And he expressed his pride after managing two of the largest local Arab tournaments recently, as he managed the Kuwaiti Federation Cup final between Kuwait and Al-Qadisiyah clubs, accompanied by UAE international referee Khaled Al-Hantoubi, and the final round of the Egypt Cup, which included the holding of 3 matches between the Zamalek and Al-Ahly teams, accompanied by the Emirati international referee.
