Norwegian striker Erling Haaland, Manchester City’s top scorer, began reaping the fruits of his brilliance in his first season in the English Premier League, as he won the Player of the Year award in the season (2022-2023) presented by the Football Writers Association in England.
Haaland (22 years old) swept 14 players who competed with him for the award, as he obtained 82 percent of the 800 football writers in England.
And Haaland became the owner of the highest percentage of votes for the prestigious award in the era of the English Premier League, ahead of Arsenal duo Bukayo Saka and Martin Odregaard, as they achieved second and third places, respectively.
Haaland dazzled everyone with his abundance of goals in his first season with City, aspiring to crown a historic treble.
Haaland has scored 51 goals so far in all competitions, including 35 goals in the English Premier League, which is the largest goal tally for a player in one season.
