Baghdad – Al-Zaman: Iranian Oil Minister Javad Auchi announced, on Saturday, the extension of his country’s gas exports to Iraq for the next five years.
“These two contracts will be extended for the next five years,” the Iranian minister said.
The Iranian Mehr News Agency quoted the Iranian Oil Ministry as saying, “Oji, after a meeting with Iraqi Electricity Minister Ziyad Ali Fadel, referred to the signing of a memorandum of cooperation between Iran and Iraq in the field of oil, gas and petrochemicals.”
-Oji added, “Iran, in terms of human capital and technical and engineering capabilities, has a high position, therefore, and based on the memorandum that was signed with the Iraqi side, we will cooperate with Iraq in the field of exchanging information and exploration, and developing joint oil fields in the form of integrating the development of these fields.”
-He explained that “the establishment of oil and gas pipelines and the improvement of Iraqi oil refineries are among the other axes mentioned in the memorandum of understanding between the two countries,” explaining that “one of the achievements of this trip is the extension of the gas export contract with the Iraqi Ministry of Oil.”
“Based on the agreement of the two parties, these two contracts will be extended over the next five years,” the Iranian oil minister said.
During the meeting of the Minister of Oil with Iraqi officials, they discussed areas of cooperation between Iran and Iraq in the field of oil, gas and petrochemicals.
