The Director of Natural Resources at the General Authority for Forest Management and Development, Eng. Fayez Al-Mohammed, revealed that the most important measures have been taken Regarding readiness for fire prevention for the year 2023.

Al-Muhammad indicated in a statement to SANA reporter that the procedures included starting a straw plan and restoring 5,500 meters of forest roads from the planned plan of 8,500 meters, in order to facilitate the arrival of tanks and firefighters to the fire sites as soon as possible, in addition to carrying out the necessary maintenance for all firefighters, tanks and workers’ transport vehicles, and making sure that its readiness.

Al-Mohammad pointed out that the requirements of the firefighting teams have been secured, including fire hoses, backpack pumps, individual kits, special clothes and shoes for firefighters, in addition to the preparation and maintenance of wireless stations and individual devices to ensure speedy communication with those concerned with extinguishing the fire, indicating that work is currently underway to appoint 300 seasonal firefighters.

He said: A comprehensive plan has been prepared that includes the distribution of firefighters to the agricultural sectors and forest sites before the harvest season for rapid intervention in the event of a fire, as well as the intensification of forest patrols on public roads and forest sites, pointing to the continuation of work in preparing bulletins and implementing information and guiding and awareness-raising seminars on the importance of forests and the need to preserve It has to cooperate and coordinate with the extension units and the local community adjacent to the forests.

With regard to coordination with the concerned public authorities, Al-Mohammed said: Communication has been made with the General Corporation for Drinking Water and Sanitation in Hama to prepare manholes to supply water tanks, as well as correspondence with administrative units through the governorate to dispose of and treat garbage dumps, especially those close to the forest, and the free number 188 was allocated for reporting about fires.
