The Chairman of the Board of Commissioners of the Energy and Minerals Regulatory Authority, Eng. Ziyad Al-Saaida, said that the authority dealt yesterday with a case of assault and theft of parts of a high-pressure tower in the Wadi al-Qatar area in the Khaled village of Marka Brigade.
In the details, Engineer Al-Saaida explained that the case was dealt with and maintenance and repair operations were carried out, and the high-pressure towers were inspected on the same line to ensure that there was no attack, to ensure that the danger of the tower falling was removed, and to deal with the case professionally to maintain the continuity of service provision and the safety of citizens.
Engineer Al-Saaida said that the authority’s cadres dealt with the utmost speed and their response was quick in heading to the site, dealing with the situation and removing the attacks, in cooperation with the security authorities at the Marka Security Center, the Marka district administrator and the cadres of the National Electricity Company.
And he appreciated the efforts of the security authorities and their permanent and continuous cooperation with the Authority and the sector companies in controlling cases of tampering and assaulting the electrical network, as well as supporting citizens who report such attacks, which is a crime punishable by imprisonment and financial fines.
Al-Saaida stressed that the authority will continue its campaigns to monitor any attacks that affect the rights of subscribers and affect the regularity of providing the service. He called on citizens to continue cooperation and report cases of tampering and illegal extraction of electric power, and assaults on the electrical network, for what is in the national interest to maintain the security of energy supply.
