The feelings of Marcel Kohler, the coach of Al-Ahly, varied after defeating Esperance by three goals without a response, on Friday evening, at Stade Rades, in the first leg of the African Champions League semi-finals.
Kohler said after the match that he was happy to win three times against a large team the size of Esperance, adding, “But we could have doubled the score had it not been for wasting easy opportunities in the second half.”
The Swiss coach warned his players, saying, “I will not deal with them as if we qualified for the final. If we deal with laxity and recklessness, we will face a great danger.”--
Al-Ahly coach continued, “Esperance is a big team and can score 3 goals in Cairo. Everything is contained in football, and we saw the big clubs in the Champions League, such as Real Madrid and Liverpool, who have the ability to score goals outside their stadiums.”
He also stressed in the press conference, “I respect all competitors equally, and this is the key to success.”
Marcel Koller concluded his remarks, “It is not my responsibility or my role to talk about the opponent or to evaluate the Esperance team, its players and coach, or to talk about its weaknesses.”
Al-Ahly will meet against Esperance de Tunis, back, next Friday evening at Cairo Stadium.
