Sami Al-Arousi, the former star of Esperance, commented on the Tunisian team’s great defeat against Al-Ahly, yesterday, Saturday, in the African Champions League.
Al-Ahly beat Esperance 3-0 at home at Rades Stadium, yesterday, Friday, in the first leg of the semi-finals of the continental championship.

Al-Arousi said in his statements on the “Remontada” program broadcast on the “Al-Mehwar” channel: “The match was in one direction, the performance of Esperance was disastrous, and Al-Ahly deserved to win.”

And he continued: “When Esperance received goals, we did not see any reaction from it, after each goal, as if it was satisfied with the result.”
He added, “The burden was heavy on Nabil Maaloul, especially since the assignments were not at the highest level, and this put everyone under great pressure.”
--And he continued: “I think that Nabil Maaloul would not have completed his career from the beginning with Esperance, in the absence of strong assignments for the team, and there was no spirit.”
And he continued: “Al-Ahly is closer to winning the CAF Champions League title this season. The team is always present to crown titles, and it has great names and they have confidence, and this made the team fully control the match.”
He concluded: “Al-Ahly is tactically very distinguished, and this gives it superiority, whether over Sun Downs or Moroccan Wydad.”
It is noteworthy that Esperance will visit Al-Ahly, next Friday, May 19, at the Cairo Stadium, in the second leg of the semi-final round.
