Press reports revealed that the board of directors of Al-Ahly Jeddah has started searching for the ideal option to take over the task of training the team in the Saudi Professional League, to succeed South African Pitso Musimani, who is expected to leave next season.
And the Saudi newspaper “Sport” stated that the Al-Ahly administration is thinking strongly about one of the two, the Italian Massimiliano Allegri, the current coach of Juventus, or the Swiss, former coach of Bordeaux, Vladimir Petkovic.
The newspaper said that Petkovic is free at the present time, which facilitates the task of attracting him to train Al-Ahly after his departure from Bordeaux in February 2022, to remain without a club, while some expect Allegri to leave Juventus due to the fluctuation of the team’s results in the current season.
-The “Saudi Sport” website, which specializes in covering Saudi football news, has confirmed that the Al-Ahly Jeddah administration has settled largely on the departure of South African Pitso Musimani and the signing of a global coach in the new season, after the criticism that the South African was subjected to in the recent period.
-The site added that Al-Ahly Jeddah Club settled on the departure of Betso Musimani from the team’s official training, and that he would not be the coach of the team in the next season, and some within Al-Ahly Jeddah put forward the name of the Portuguese Roy Vittoria, the current coach of the Egyptian national team, to lead Al-Ahly in the next season.
The site stressed that the Saudi Al-Ahly administration is working hard to contract with a good coach to lead the team, but they do not want to contract with Vitoria in order to avoid crises because of his current leadership of the Pharaohs.
The site indicated that the Al-Ahly administration is in serious negotiations during the current period with Portuguese Marco Silva, coach of the English Fulham team, in order to lead Al-Raqi in the new season.
And the Saudi Football Association had announced an increase in the number of Saudi League teams in the next season 2023-2024, and thus 4 clubs will rise from the first division, with two teams relegating from the Saudi Professional League.
