The Kuwaiti Ministry of Information mourned the artist Abdel Karim Abdel Qader, who passed away yesterday, Friday, after suffering from illness at the age of 82.

The deceased artist is considered one of the pioneers of the lyrical artistic movement in the State of Kuwait, as he left an immortal artistic legacy in the history of the Kuwaiti song and a great balance of love and appreciation in the hearts of his fans during a journey of artistic giving that lasted more than 60 years.

Abdul Qadir was dubbed the wounded voice in 1988, after the widespread fame achieved by his song “Ajr al-Sawt”.

Abdul Karim Abdul Qadir was born in 1941, in the locality of Al-Zuhairiya in the city of Al-Zubayr, and he worked as an employee in the Ministry of Interior in the State of Kuwait, then he went to work in the music department of the Ministry of Information until his retirement age.

Abdul Qadir started the world of singing with a religious song in praise of the Prophet Muhammad, may God’s prayers and peace be upon him, entitled “Shawqi Sa’a Al-Madinah”, composed by the artist Youssef Al-Muhanna, after which successful songs followed, such as “Takun Zalim”, written by Muhammad Mahrous and Abdul Rahman Al-Baijan, and “Sara Al-Layl”. Ya Qamarna”, the words of Dr. Abdullah Muhammad Al-Otaibi, composed by Ahmed Baqer, and “Stay with me in the opinion” and “Oh, Al-Asmar, Ya Zain.”

The beginning of the late Kuwaiti artist was through religious stanzas, and after a great career of artistic success, Abdul Qadir collaborated with a number of prominent poets, including Prince Khaled Al-Faisal, Prince Fahd bin Khaled, Prince Saud bin Bandar, and Prince Muhammad bin Abdullah Al-Faisal. He also released 60 albums during his 60-year career.

Turki Al-Sheikh, head of the General Authority for Entertainment in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, tweeted, through his official account on Twitter, saying, “May God have mercy on the great artist Abdul Karim Abdul Qadir (…) Today we lose a symbol of the Gulf and Arab song.. May God have mercy on you, Abu Khaled.”

And the artist Nabil Shuail wrote, saying: “…a cheerful, loving and humble person left us. I learned a lot from him on a personal level, and he also had a great role in my life, but this is the year of life and a path that we all follow.”

And the late Kuwaiti media, Mai Al-Aidan, wrote, “We belong to God and to Him we shall return… The great artist Abdel Karim Abdel Qader passed to God’s mercy after a struggle with illness (…) Do not be stingy with supplication, for supplication is the sustenance of the dead.”
