The conference is the first of its kind within the Cannes Festival. It was organized by the Cannes Film Festival in cooperation with NEOM Media Industries and the Arab Cinema Center. It was attended by officials and experts from all over the Arab world under the title of reaching the largest untapped market in the world.

Hafez participated in a panel discussion entitled “Locations and Talents” next to Wayne Borg, General Director of Media, Entertainment and Culture Industries at NEOM, Muhannad Bakri, Director of the Royal Film Commission Jordan, Marco Orsini, Founder and Chairman of the Board of Directors of the International Association for Emerging Film Talents (IEFTA), and filmmaker Amjad Abu. Al-Ula is the producer of Farewell Julia, which premiered in the Un Certain Regard section of the Cannes Film Festival. The seminar was moderated by Deadline journalist Melanie Goodfellow, and the participants discussed how the wealth of cinematic talent and the charming filming locations in the Arab world reach international production projects.

Hafez was also part of the team of the feature film Inshallah Weld, directed by Amjad Al-Rasheed, which is witnessing its world premiere through the Cannes Film Festival, where the film competes in the Critics’ Week section, to be the first Jordanian film to compete in one of the competitions of the prestigious French festival. Inshallah Weld is Hafez’s second work to officially participate in the Cannes Festival after the film Clash by director Mohamed Diab, who participated in the Un Certain Regard section of the 69th edition of the Cannes Festival, in addition to the film 18 Days, which witnessed its world premiere at the 64th edition of the Cannes Festival during a festive evening. In honor of Egypt.

The film Inshallah Weld received a great ovation after its screening at the Cannes Festival, where the entire screening hall was filled in its three screenings with audiences who greeted the filmmakers with a standing ovation after the screening. The film is written by Amjad Al-Rasheed, Delphine Ought and Rola Nasser, and produced by The Imaginarium films (Rola Nasser and Aseel Abu Ayyash) with the participation of Beit Al-Shawareb (Youssef Abdel-Nabi) and co-producers Alaa Karkouti, Maher Diab and Shahinaz Al-Akkad. MAD Solutions and Lagoonie Film Production are responsible for distributing the film worldwide. Al Arabi, while Pyramide International handles international sales.

Hafez is a member of the American Cinema Monterrey Association (ACE), and he is the only editor from the Arab world in this honorary association whose membership includes the most important editing artists in Hollywood and from all over the world. Recently, Hafez won two awards for the movie Night of the Moon 14, the award for best editing from Film Society Festival, and Best Editing Award from the Egyptian Catholic Center Film Festival.

Hafez’s latest work, the series Under Guardianship, which was shown during the 2023 Ramadan drama season, achieved public success and sparked widespread controversy. It is noteworthy that Hafez participated in the Marvel series Moon Knight, directed by Mohamed Diab, in which Hafez worked on the third and fourth episodes of the first season.
