The Al-Ahly club team advanced to the final of the African Champions League, the 2022-2023 season edition, after renewing its victory over Tunisian Esperance Sportive with a goal without a response, in the return match in the semi-final round.
Last week, Al-Ahly defeated Esperance, outside its bases, at the latter’s stadium, “Hammadi Al-Aqrabi,” with three free goals, so that the total of the home and away matches was (4-0).
Al-Ahly’s qualification for the final will make it obtain huge returns after the decision of the Confederation of African Football, “CAF” headed by Patrice Motsepe, as “CAF” announced the lifting of the awards for the African Champions League and Confederation competitions.
The winning team of the CAF Champions League will receive a cash prize of $4 million (approximately 123 million Egyptian pounds), and the runner-up in the CAF Champions League will receive $2 million (61.5 million Egyptian pounds).
And Al-Ahly reached the CAF Champions League final for the 16th time in its history and the fourth in a row, as the red team is the most crowned with the competition title 10 times, the last of which was the 2020 and 2021 editions.
Al-Ahly is waiting for the winner from the South African Sundowns match or Moroccan Wydad Casablanca, where the first-leg match, which was held last Saturday evening, ended with a goalless draw at the “Mohammed V Sports Complex” stadium in Casablanca.
-It is scheduled that the CAF Champions League final will be held by returning to the old system by holding a first-leg match and then the second leg, as the last three versions were held in a one-match system.
-Al-Ahly will host the first leg on the fourth of next June, then the return match will be either in Morocco or South Africa on the 11th of the same month.
