The camel racing field in Al-Arish will witness, after tomorrow, Sunday, an energizing camel race, with camels from all governorates participating in the competition.
Dr. Mahdi Al-Bayadhi, Director of Tournaments at the Egyptian Camel Federation, said that the race is for one day over 20 rounds, adding that tomorrow, Saturday, the registration of the participating camels will start, pointing out that the race is supported by senior camel owners and is energizing.
And last April, a camel race was organized, and Major General Mohamed Abdel-Fadil Shousha, Governor of North Sinai, said that the festival was organized over two days on the occasion of the North Sinai Governorate’s celebration of the National Day and the anniversary of the liberation of Sinai, and in the presence of a number of Arab countries and Egyptian governorates interested in camel sport, and included a number of Cultural, artistic and sports activities and events, and an exhibition of Sinai products on the sidelines of the race.
-Eid Hamdan, head of the Egyptian Camel Federation, confirmed that camel racing raised camel prices from 15,000 pounds to 2 million pounds for some camels, and that camel racing is working on the tourism boom of North Sinai Governorate, in addition to the economic boom of camel sports and Sinai products, and the provision of Job opportunities for young people.
-It is noteworthy that the North Sinai governorate was one of the first governorates in which a camel club and track were established in the 17th kilometer west of Arish, in addition to the establishment of another track in central Sinai.
The field witnessed the preparations for raising the efficiency of the camel track, the administrative building, the main platform, the VIP hall, the main gate and the club’s façade, stripping the road leading to the club and removing sand from it, lighting electricity poles along the road and raising the efficiency of internal lighting, as North Sinai witnessed in September of last year activities The Camel Racing Festival in Al-Arish after a 14-year hiatus, and the racing activities took place over 30 rounds, in which camels competed with 360 camels, and concluded with the closing performances and the Miss Camel Show.
The Egyptian Camel Sports Club in Arish is the first club for camel racing in Egypt. It was declared on August 1, 1997. On its land, races were launched and reached all governorates of Egypt. Local and international camel races were held, and Arab camel racing championships were organized on its land. The camel is from Egypt and the Arab world, and its fans are followers.
The racetrack in this place is dedicated to a width of 20 meters and a length of 8 kilometers, and it is the longest of its kind at the level of racing fields in Egypt, while the total area of the site is 4 million and 750 thousand square meters.
