In a remarkable position on the part of the US administration, Washington condemned yesterday the racist chants launched by settlers calling for “Death to the Arabs” during the flag march in occupied Jerusalem, which witnessed attacks against the Palestinians.
The United States of America condemned the chants of “death to the Arabs” launched by Israeli right-wingers during the so-called “flag march”, which is organized annually to celebrate Israel’s occupation of the eastern part of Jerusalem in 1967.
“The United States categorically opposes any racist language in any form,” said State Department spokesman Matthew Miller – in a tweet on Twitter.
“We condemn the chants that call for hatred, such as death to the Arabs during the marches in Jerusalem,” he added.
-Right-wing Israelis chanted “Death to the Arabs” during the “flag march”. The march is organized by extreme right-wing groups and settlers with the approval and protection of successive Israeli governments.
-The Israeli police announced the deployment of 3,200 of its members to secure the march, which was punctuated by insulting and anti-Palestinian chants.
Thousands of right-wing Israelis participated in the march, including National Security Minister Itamar Ben Gvir, Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich, and Transportation Minister Miri Regev, in addition to representatives from the parties forming the government headed by Benjamin Netanyahu.
The right-wingers carried Israeli flags and chanted “to burn their village,” referring to the Palestinians. And the Al-Jazeera correspondent reported that during the march, settlers raised the flag of the “Kahana” movement, which is banned by Israel and internationally as a terrorist organization.
