Dr. Reda Hegazy, Minister of Education and Technical Education, met, during his visit today to Aswan Governorate, Major General Ashraf Attia, Governor of Aswan, and Dr. Amira Fouad, Acting Head of the Education Department at the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF). To discuss supporting the governorate’s efforts in the field of educational integration.

This came in the presence of Ghada Abu Zeid, Deputy Governor of Aswan, and Major General Yousry Salem, Assistant Minister for the Affairs of the General Authority for Educational Buildings.

The minister emphasized that the ministry is interested in the educational integration process and places students of determination at the top of its priorities, with the aim of building a creative and innovative personality, which depends on developing students’ skills through a range of activities, and opening the way for them to discover and develop their capabilities, stressing that the Egyptian state provides an integrated system of services. People of determination, within the framework of the directives of the political leadership, to pay attention to people with special needs and provide them with all means of support; To integrate them and turn them into active and participating elements in society.

The minister added that the ministry is currently developing curricula for students of determination, in accordance with their circumstances, and designing programs and activities that contribute to developing the performance aspects of students and showing their talents and abilities, pointing out that there are many positive models in integrating students of people of determination into schools, which is reflected in Their interaction in community participation with school students naturally.

The minister explained that, in light of the presidential initiative, comrades “are capable of differently”, the ministry circulated guiding boards with the most frequently used signs for deaf and mute students, accompanied by a QR code that shows the movement of the sign, to all schools in the republic. To raise community awareness, spread the culture of sign language, and facilitate their daily interactions, participation and integration into society.

The minister referred to his recent visit to the “Tolgate” school in the British capital, London. To learn about the latest methods of integration in the United Kingdom, on the sidelines of his participation in the World Education Forum 2023, pointing out that there is a global system of integration, starting from simple disabilities to disabilities that need care and different specializations.

For his part, the Governor of Aswan affirmed that Dr. Reda Hegazy, Minister of Education, supports all means that contribute to the development of the educational process in the governorate, pointing out that integration students in the governorate practice many activities due to their great special abilities.

The governor also indicated that the governorate intends to allocate a class for integration for each educational stage in the Hassaya Schools Complex, for which the foundation stone was laid today, to serve the eastern neighborhood of Aswan Governorate.

For her part, Dr. Amira Fouad said that the UNICEF program attaches great importance to the process of integrating students, and providing support for all the efforts of the Ministry in developing the educational process in a manner that meets the needs of integrating students with minor disabilities into public education, through the partnership of the Ministry and specialized universities. Praising the efforts of the Ministry of Education and Technical Education in the field of educational integration and the directives of Dr. Reda Hegazy, Minister of Education, to integrate children with minor disabilities in Aswan schools within the priorities of the support program provided by UNICEF.
