The world celebrates International Nurses Day, which falls on May 12 of each year, as an opportunity to recognize the valuable contribution of nurses in the provision of health care and to celebrate their hard work, dedication and commitment to improving the health of individuals and societies around the world.
The theme of this year’s celebration, “Our Nurses… Our Future,” confirms the vital role that nurses play in shaping the future of health care, and highlights the importance of adopting policies that support the nursing profession and improve health outcomes for patients.
In this regard, the Qatari Ministry of Public Health celebrates the contribution of nurses within the State of Qatar and around the world.
Dr. Saleh Ali Al-Marri, Assistant Minister of Public Health for Health Affairs at the Ministry of Public Health, stressed the pivotal role of nurses in providing high-quality health care, pointing to their dedication to performing their professional and humanitarian duties, which was evident during the “Covid-19” pandemic.
He added that the pandemic has highlighted the critical role that nurses play as well as nurses in providing health care services.-
International Council of Nursing
The International Council of Nursing celebrates this occasion annually, as the council includes more than 130 national associations for nurses, representing 28 million nurses worldwide.-
“The theme for this year’s International Nurses Day defines what the International Council of Nurses wants in the future in order to address global health challenges and improve global health for all,” said Dr. Pamela Cipriano, President of the International Council of Nurses. “We need to learn from the lessons of the pandemic and translate them into actions for the future, ensuring protection Nursing staff respect and appreciate them.”
She added that with the release of the State of the World Nursing Report, Global Strategic Directions for Nursing and Midwifery, Sustainability and Conservation for 2022 and Beyond, and many other important publications, the International Council of Nursing and other organizations have shown evidence of the importance of change while advocating for action and investments in nursing.
