The Beirut Sports Club team is one step away from reaching the final series of the Lebanese Basketball Championship, as it is enough for it to win any result against its host Al-Hikma, its traditional rival, Sunday (16:45), in the Antoine Choueiri Stadium in Ghazir.
Coach Ahmed Farran’s men had achieved two consecutive victories in the first two matches of the semi-final series, starting from Ghazir a week ago, and after that in President Saeb Salam’s hall, to which the series may return with a fourth match if Joe Ghattas and his men succeed in reducing the difference in Sunday’s meeting.
It is noteworthy that the sports club will play the match hours after its return from Tehran, where it succeeded in following up its distinguished results by defeating its Iranian host Gorgan in the final of the WASL Super West Asian Basketball Championship.
-The Sports Club outperformed its Iranian host, 87-79, in the first match of the final series, as its chances became great for winning the regional title, when it faced the Iranians in Nihad Nofal Hall in Zouk Mikael, before moving to the second round, which brings it together with the Gulf and East Asia.
-The finalist between Al-Riyadi and Al-Hikma in the Lebanese Championship will have a final date with the winner of the other series, which brings together Beirut First (last season’s champion) with his counterpart Dynamo, led by the Lebanese national team coach, Jad Al-Hajj, who won the first match of the series, which will follow next Sunday ( 21:45) at the Chiyah Sports Complex, before the series returns to the Dynamo Rockland Arena on Monday at the same time.
Al-Riyadi is considered the team that has won the most title in the Lebanese Basketball League, including 16 championships in the modern era, and behind it comes Al-Hikma with 8, and titles for each of the Champs-Flyers, Homenetmen and Beirut.
