Last night (Friday), Yam Medar recorded a tremendous milestone in winning the title of “Rising Star” of the season in the EuroLeague, joining a particularly distinguished list that includes, among others, names like Luka Doncic, Nikola Mirotic and Ricky Rubio.

Following the title, Serbia congratulated the Israeli coordinator and praised him. “Oberdovich relied on his Israeli talent, and he responded with a number of fantastic games that made him the third in Partizan history to win the title after Bogdan Bogdanovich and Novica and Lichkovic,” it says, “Madar achieved tremendous recognition, this is a significant achievement for him.”

By the way, Madar is only the fourth player in the history of the Euroleague to win the title already in his first year in the factory. Those who preceded him were Rudy Fernandez in 2006/2007, Danilo Gallinari in 2007/2008 and Goga Bitadeza in 2018/2019.

Madar finished the season in the Euroleague with averages of 5.8 points, 1.6 assists, 1.2 rebounds, 0.6 steals and an index of 5. The Israeli shot 52.8% for twos, 33.8% for threes and 87.5% from the line.

The 22-year-old Mader joined Partizan Belgrade at the beginning of last year and this season he played for the first time in the Euroleague with his team, which finished the regular season in sixth place and surrendered to Real Madrid 3:2 at the end of a crazy playoff series.
