Ran Ben Shimon stood tonight (Saturday) on the lines of M.S. Ashdod for the last time, when his team lost 2:1 to Maccabi Tel Aviv in a game for the record, in the final round of the 2022/23 season. Rabbi arrived in January 2020 and is leaving after three and a half years.
“These were three and a half amazing and exciting years,” said Ben Shimon, “I learned, I taught, there were many, many amazing moments. This is a club dear to my heart. At the moment there is nothing on the agenda, I left without having anything else in hand, but I feel that it is time From the point of view of both sides. I felt that I was given my place and my dignity here, I was a very valued personality, the relationship with Jackie was amazing, he took me into his heart and I want to thank him and Lenoni. I was trusted and even in the worst moments I had a solid back.”
Ben Shimon continued: “In those years, Ashdod was an attacking, good, fun team. We enjoyed watching them play football. I am proud of the strong team that was around me, a tremendous team of thinking, we would also meet outside of football hours. My team is one of my greatest prides.”
The coach concluded: “I want to continue my life’s journey, I don’t have ‘mountain top’ goals. I want to have fun and see where the wind takes me. You can stop for a moment, look back and see what we’ve done. There have been very intense years and it’s time for some relaxation. The trophy? God damn it, I really wanted it.”
