A member of the Strong Republic bloc, Representative Shawky Daccache, renewed his promise to the late Patriarch Mar Nasrallah Boutros Sfeir to “continue the resistance to defend our cause in the East for the sake of our final homeland,” noting that “we will remain on your path of service and freedom.”

And about “Qarnet Shahwan,” Daccache pointed out in an interview with Radio Free Lebanon, “that the opposition supported by Sfeir, he transferred it from a Christian opposition to an opposition at the national level, and proved that he is a strategic man.”

And he stressed that “there will remain a patriarch for freedom,” considering that “Patriarch Sfeir is an exceptional patriotic and religious man who supported the oppressed youth in the time of tutelage, and adhered to the bold word of truth.”

He added, “I never bowed except before the body of Patriarch Sfeir, recalling when Patriarch Sfeir decided to visit Tripoli and the North in 2010, so he wished him and his “comrades to take a plane, but he refused, stressing that he is the patriarch of every inch of Lebanon, even the farthest reaches of Akkar.”

As for his saying, “How miserable this bad time is,” Al-Dakash explained, “Sfeir was looking forward to the dangers that threaten us.”

Rejecting the comparison between Patriarch Sfeir and the head of the “Lebanese Forces” party, Samir Geagea, he said: “Patriarch Sfeir considered Geagea to have a major role in the national cause. They agree with each other with selflessness, humility, and service.”

And he believed, “The patriarchs throughout history were defenders of freedom, and Patriarch Sfeir was the most prominent of them, and he will remain the patriarch of freedom, adding that he is like the Kesrawanites, molded from its rock and high as its mountains.”
