Upper Egypt witnessed, during the past eight years, a major developmental boom that affected all its governorates, and resulted in an urban, industrial and agricultural renaissance, in parallel with the human development of the “Decent Life” initiative, the efforts of the National Alliance for Development Action and the “shoulder by shoulder” initiative, which seeks to reduce the burden on citizens. the most needy and provide a decent life for the people of the south.
The Decent Life Initiative implemented projects worth EGP 39 billion, consisting of government investments to develop the villages of Upper Egypt governorates during 2021-2022, based on official data on the conditions of these governorates, after community dialogues to determine the needs of the villages before launching development projects. All of this was done in parallel with the government’s efforts to establish New cities in Upper Egypt and the expansion of urbanization through major housing projects, most notably “housing for all Egyptians”.
The Upper Egypt Development Authority is implementing 27 projects with investments amounting to 1.8 billion pounds, including 3 craft industrial complexes in Upper Egypt. Work continues day and night to implement a huge network of roads, bridges and cross axes on the Nile to open new horizons for movement, work and trade, with an expenditure amount of 210 billion pounds. Development and urbanization projects in Upper Egypt affected mosques and churches to enhance citizenship rights in the “new republic”, through the development and restoration of more than 10,000 mosques, and legalizing the status of 581 churches and buildings during 2022. “Al-Watan” monitors Upper Egypt development projects that changed the face of the south in various fields. and reactions to it from all sides.
