After the breakfast that brought together the candidate for the presidency of the Republic, Suleiman Franjieh, and the Saudi ambassador to Lebanon, Walid Bukhari, at the latter’s house, yesterday, Thursday, Al-Bukhari began a tour of meetings that included the National Moderation Bloc, which included a lunch in his honor at the bloc’s center in Saifi, and was completed today with a meeting he had with the Minister of Interior, Bassam. Mawlawi at the ministry’s headquarters, and a meeting with the Regeneration Bloc headed by candidate Michel Moawad at the bloc’s center in Sin El Fil. What are the most prominent details of Bukhari’s meetings?!
In this context, the sources of the Moderation bloc revealed that “Saudi Ambassador Walid Bukhari informed the bloc that there is no Saudi veto over anyone, and the Kingdom is at an equal distance from everyone,” calling for “the process of electing the president in the parliament to be carried out in a democratic manner, especially since each parliamentary bloc is able to determine her options.”
According to the sources, Al-Bukhari assured the representatives of the Moderation bloc that the Kingdom has no problem with any candidate and Saudi Arabia will not interfere in Lebanese politics, and its position will be determined after evaluating the upcoming positions of the president and his policy towards the Kingdom after his election.-
And I asserted that “Al-Bukhari did not mention the names during the meeting that was held, nor did he reveal the details of his meeting with Franjieh, and he reiterated the Kingdom’s positions on the merit, which everyone knows.”-
The sources said, “Based on what we heard, a session to elect a president for the republic will be called at the end of this month, but the scene is still blurry, and the solution may be surprising, and we reach electing a president for the republic, but things are still unclear.”
Bukhari also met with deputies of the Renewal Bloc in a meeting that lasted an hour and a half, attended by the presidential candidate Michel Moawad and the deputies Ashraf Rifi, Fouad Makhzoumi and Adeeb Abdel Masih. Bukhari left without making any statement, but the information indicated that the atmosphere inside the meeting was positive.
