Dr. Yasmine Fouad, Minister of Environment, held a meeting with Dr. Nadia Makram Ebeid, CEO of the Center for Environment and Development for the Arab Region and Europe “CEDARI”, and the center’s team; To prepare and discuss the main features of the State of the Environment Report in Egypt for the year 2022, which is prepared by the Ministry in cooperation with the Center.
The Minister of Environment thanked Dr. Nadia Makram Ebeid and the Cedari Center for their cooperation in issuing the State of the Environment Report in Egypt in 2020, expressing her aspiration to issue the 2022 report in a different way.
He stressed that the stage that the Egyptian state is going through in terms of some economic and development challenges makes it imperative for every individual to play the role that he is required to do, and to make more efforts and efforts. for the advancement of this country.
And she added that based on the directives of the President of the Republic in 2019, work was to develop the environment sector, create links between the environment and economic development, and actually translate this into reality.
-She pointed to the success achieved in this through several models, such as providing green job opportunities and sources of livelihood as a result of the success in eliminating the black cloud, dealing with rice straw as an economic product, and converting agricultural waste and animal dung into energy for “biogas units”, which were expanded in rural villages. Al-Masry through the “Decent Life” projects, as well as the efforts of the Egyptian state to develop natural reserves and manage them in a sustainable manner, stressing that this effectively proves that the environment is not a path of luxury.
-The Minister of Environment stressed the importance of the state of the environment report in Egypt for the year 2022 showing the human and economic dimension, noting the work during the last period on the file of natural reserves and the integration of local communities in preserving them and reviving the cultural and artistic heritage and customs of those communities within the reserves.
For her part, Dr. Nadia Makram Ebeid expressed her happiness with the existing cooperation between the Ministry of Environment and the Cedari Center in preparing a report on the state of the environment in Egypt for the year 2022, and presenting everything that is best for the Egyptian state, expressing her happiness at meeting the minister inside the ministry’s new headquarters in the Administrative Capital, and she is proud to be a minister. Environment Vice Chair of the Board of Trustees of the Cedari Center.
The Ministry of Environment continues its cooperation with the Center for Environment and Development for the Arab Region and Europe “Cedari” in issuing its annual report on the state of the environment in Egypt, and continues to work on building the capacities of a new generation of the Ministry’s youth, capable of drafting and preparing the report on the latest technologies and practices that exist globally.
It is worth noting that the state of the environment report is a national report, and it is considered one of the mechanisms of environmental reviews in Egypt, and it is prepared annually to find out the path of achieving the desired goals in the Egyptian environmental sector.
