For the second year in a row, DEWA is participating in the “Change Leaders Programme” of the Emirates Nature-WWF, in cooperation with the World Wide Fund for Nature.
The program includes training sessions, field visits and interactive activities in various parts of the UAE, to raise the level of awareness of the participants and refine their expertise and experiences in many areas, including climate action, environmental preservation, carbon footprint reduction and excellence in the work environment.
His Excellency Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, Managing Director and CEO of the authority, affirmed the authority’s commitment to supporting national initiatives and events aimed at promoting the culture of volunteering rooted in the noble Emirati society, and giving back to society, in addition to raising the level of environmental awareness among social and institutional circles, and encouraging practices aimed at protecting the environment. and wild life.
His Excellency Al Tayer praised the increasing willingness of the authority’s employees to participate in voluntary community programs and activities, and their keenness to support the authority’s endeavors to enhance the percentage of society’s happiness with the authority, and to present honorable models of national work in all fields.
--His Excellency added: “We are working to spread the culture of sustainability among our employees and members of society, to achieve a balance between development and the environment, and to establish a sustainable legacy that is not limited to sustainable infrastructure and services, but also includes establishing practices and businesses based on sustainability, and correcting irresponsible behaviors that harm the environment.”
Between 2013 and 2022, the Authority launched more than 380 community initiatives, through which the Authority’s employees recorded 206,560 volunteer hours in humanitarian and community initiatives, benefiting 50,458,396 people in the UAE and abroad.
For her part, Laila Mustafa Abdellatif, Director General of Emirates Nature-WWF said: “Change Leaders is the first digital initiative in the UAE that brings together civil society members and unites them towards one goal, which is to work for nature. We have designed our projects and activities to be an effective tool with the aim of empowering “Volunteers make a real, tangible change and contribute to achieving the global goals of environmental sustainability for the UAE.
