Ariel University canceled the planned appearance of Eyal Golan on Student’s Day in the campus complex, following the storm that erupted online and the opposition of many students and lecturers.
Because of this, the student union at the university started a fight against the university’s decision and posted today (Friday) on the Facebook page: “We in the union wanted to hold Student’s Day in the planned format and we wanted to hold it here in Ariel, on our campus. As we know, the area belongs to the university. The university decided not to allow us To hold the event in a format that includes the appearance of Eyal Golan. We changed worlds and were able to create the possibility of holding the event at Live Park in Rishon Lezion, at identical costs and a corresponding transportation arrangement.”
The association decided to conduct a survey to check whether the students prefer to hold the event on the university grounds but without Golan’s appearance, or to hold the student day in Live Park, outside the campus walls, where Golan can perform. “Student’s Day is the day of the students and therefore here too, only we, the students at Ariel University, will decide how it will be held. As with the selection of the artists, we will also now conduct a survey to see in what format you would like to hold our event. The options are: 1 – holding the event on the university grounds After the cancellation of Eyal Golan’s performance, 2 – holding the Student Day performances as planned, including Eyal Golan’s performance at Live Park.”

The women’s lobby stated: “An important and moral decision by Ariel University not to allow the performance of Eyal Golan on the university’s premises. We will continue to stand by the complainants and work to eradicate inappropriate behavior towards the women in Israel. We congratulate the university for responding to our call and the call of many in this struggle to ban the performance on its premises It is not appropriate that a person, against whom there are serious allegations of sexual behavior offensive to minors and contempt for women, should appear at an event of a recognized academic institution in Israel. Thank you to all the brave women who took part in this struggle. Together we are a force.”
