The European Union calls on China to play a constructive role in the Russian-Ukrainian crisis – World news

The European Union called on China to play a constructive role in achieving a just peace in the Russian-Ukrainian crisis, and the High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Josep Borrell, said that relations between Brussels and Beijing will not develop normally if China does not push Moscow to withdraw from Ukraine.

Borrell: The trade relationship with China is unbalanced

At a press conference in the Swedish capital, Stockholm, following an informal meeting of EU foreign ministers, Borrell referred to the unbalanced trade relationship with China as another major issue in relations that needs to be fixed, according to Russia Today, a Russian news network.

Borrell had said earlier that the informal meeting sought to unite the “European Union” in order to reset our stance towards China.

Borrell added that the two sides have problems in economic security and trade relations between the European Union and Beijing are unbalanced, and the European official indicated that the bloc needs to avoid dependence on China in the main sectors of the economy.

A European call to maintain the status quo in Taiwan

It will take a long time to reconsider economic relations with China, Borrell said, noting that the EU continues to call for maintaining the status quo and promoting de-escalation in Taiwan because it is very important for global trade and for Brussels in particular.

For his part, Chinese Foreign Minister Chen Gang said today, Friday, that his country and Europe should reject the Cold War mentality, adding to reporters, during a visit to Oslok, that “if we have a new Cold War, the results will be more disastrous than the previous one.” According to the Russian news agency Sputnik.

Zhang said that the new cold war will seriously damage the relations and cooperation between the two sides, according to the French agency “Agence France Presse”.
