
Dubai, United Arab Emirates (CNN) – The Saudi Minister of Finance, Muhammad Al-Jadaan, said, on Friday, that he met with the Iranian Minister of Economy and Finance, Dr. Ehsan Khanduri, on the sidelines of the annual meetings of the Islamic Development Bank 2023.
Al-Jadaan added, via Twitter: “We discussed opportunities to develop and strengthen joint relations between the two countries,” and published a picture of the meeting.
The Iranian News Agency (IRNA) quoted Khandozi as saying during his visit to Saudi Arabia that “expanding economic relations between Iran and Saudi Arabia is profitable for both sides and in the interest of all countries in the region.”
He added, “Iranian President Ibrahim Raisi’s policy is based on strengthening relations with neighboring countries,” and continued, “We have made very great achievements over the past year and a half, and we expect to witness an increase in Iran’s economic, trade and investment interactions with neighboring countries.”
-He stated that “the agreement reached between Iran and Saudi Arabia, mediated by friendly countries, will increase trade and investment opportunities between the two countries.”
-The agency stated that Khandozi is visiting the Saudi city of Jeddah to attend the annual meeting of the Islamic Development Bank, where he heads an economic delegation. He was received by Saudi officials, directors of the Islamic Development Bank and members of the Iranian consulate.
And the agency added, “The minister held meetings with Saudi officials and attended the meeting of the Islamic Development Bank and delivered a speech in it, which is among the most important goals of this visit,” and pointed out that this is the first visit of an Iranian official to Saudi Arabia after the recent agreement with it regarding the resumption of relations.
