His Highness Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum, President of the Dubai Civil Aviation Authority, Supreme President and CEO of Emirates Airlines and the group, topped the Forbes magazine’s ranking of “The Most Powerful Travel and Tourism Leaders in the Middle East 2023”, for the second year in a row.
The list, which includes 16 Emiratis, highlights the 100 leaders of travel and tourism in the region.
His Highness Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed began his work in the field of aviation in 1985, when he assumed the position of Chairman of the Department of Civil Aviation in Dubai.
In the same year, His Highness assumed the presidency of the board of directors of the newly established Emirates Airlines at the time, where under his leadership the company was launched with two charter planes and flights to two destinations from Dubai, while His Highness currently chairs the Emirates Group, which also includes “Dnata”, the leading travel company in the world.
--His Highness Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed holds a Bachelor’s degree from the University of Denver in Colorado, USA, and he was honored by the Royal Aeronautical Society for his achievements in the field of aviation by awarding him a Fellowship of the Society at the Farnborough Air Show that was held in the United Kingdom in 1994.
In May 2013 he was awarded an honorary Doctor of Science degree from City University London – Cass Business School.
