Discussions to open new horizons for cooperation between Egypt and Germany in the fields of information technology

Cairo – Mubasher: Minister of Communications and Information Technology, Amr Talaat, discussed with Niels Annen, Minister of State for Economic Cooperation and German Development; In the German capital, Berlin, ways to enhance joint cooperation between Egypt and Germany in the fields of information technology and digital transformation.

The meeting discussed current cooperation projects between Egypt and Germany in the field of digital transformation through cooperation between the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology and the German Agency for International Cooperation. GIZ; Which includes a project to support innovation in public administration, and cooperation to establish a laboratory for creating government applications.

The executive plans undertaken by the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology to develop the information technology industry and create an environment conducive to investment in outsourcing were discussed.

The meeting was attended by Yemeni Minister Plenipotentiary Othman, Deputy Head of the Egyptian Mission at the Egyptian Embassy in Berlin, and Engineer Khaled Al-Attar, Deputy Minister of Communications and Information Technology for Administrative Development, Digital Transformation and Mechanization.

Amr Talaat also held a meeting with Odo Philippe, Minister of State for Economy; During which they discussed mechanisms to advance cooperation between the two countries in the field of communications and information technology. The components of the telecommunications and information technology sector and the most prominent developments it is witnessing were also reviewed, highlighting the sector’s highly specialized and qualified young cadres to work in the communications and information technology industry in the local and global markets.

In a related context; Amr Talaat visited the Werner CenterWerner Experiment and Innovation for Industry 4.0 is a research center focused on future technologies with the aim of developing innovations for industrial products.

Amr Talaat gave presentations on automation, robotics, cybersecurity, blockchain, 3D printing, e-finance use cases, and the use of the digital twin industry.

Amr Talaat also met Stefan Kohn, CEO of Engineering Innovation Centers in Dietikon DETECON Specialized in technology management and consulting in this field to discuss opportunities for cooperation in the field of fourth industrial generation technologies “4.0”. In the presence of Eng. Adel Hamed, advisor to the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology for international information infrastructure, Bjorn Menden, regional president of Detcon in the Middle East and Africa, and Amir Abdel-Azim, CEO of IT Strategies and CEO of the company’s branch in Egypt.

Amr Talaat participated in a round table with members of the Arab Euro-Mediterranean Organization for Economic CooperationEMA; During which the growth witnessed by the Egyptian communications and information technology sector, the most prominent projects that are being implemented, and networking opportunities between small and medium-sized companies in both countries were highlighted. Cooperation in the outsourcing industry in Egypt was also discussed.

It is noteworthy that the Arab Euro-Mediterranean Organization for Economic CooperationEMA It includes a group of businessmen and aims to promote international cooperation and understanding between Germany, Europe, the Mediterranean region and the Middle East.

During the meeting, an open dialogue took place between Amr Talaat and company officials. It reviewed the most prominent initiatives and training programs launched within the framework of the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology’s strategy to build digital capabilities and encourage innovation, and the ministry’s efforts to encourage investment in data centers. The most important digital transformation projects that are being implemented in Egypt were also reviewed, and the competitive elements of Egypt, which qualified it to become an attractive destination for investments in the outsourcing industry.

Amr Talaat also attended a forum in the presence of members of the German parliament, and a number of specialized German chambers and federations. The German side welcomed the strengthening of cooperation with Egypt in the fields of communications and information technology, especially digital transformation, and benefiting from Egyptian human capabilities and technological progress in Germany.

Amr Talaat also met with Shamim Raafat, CEO and founder of the company Zero 360 Specialized in providing advisory services in the field of innovation to private and government sector institutions. Where they discussed cooperation in establishing a center for innovation in digital services within the framework of the innovation project in public administration, which is being implemented in cooperation with the German Agency for International Cooperation. GIZ; The laboratory will provide integrated technological solutions, including assistive technologies.
