The members of the Korean group “BTS” will publish their memoirs in July in South Korea and the United States, according to the American publishing house that will be responsible for launching the book on the market, in an announcement that excited K-pop fans around the world.
South Korea’s most prominent cultural phenomenon, BTS, performs all over the world while topping the hit songs charts. The proceeds from the work of the “BTS” group, which includes seven members, generate billions in the South Korean economy, while the band attracts a wide fan base known as “Army”.
The memoir, titled “Behind the Story: 10 Years of BTS” (Beyond the Story: 10 Years Record of BTS), was written by South Korean journalist Kang Myung-seok and members of BTS, according to the publishing house.
On Thursday, the American house “Flatiron Books” published an article about the book on its Instagram page, and attached it to the comment, “Who’s excited?”, with the hashtag #BTSBook.
The 544-page BTS diary will be released on July 9, according to the Amazon website. This date was chosen because it marks the tenth anniversary of the establishment of ARMY.
“So excited to read the book… amazing to go back to the past 10 years of BTS,” a fan of the group wrote on Twitter.
BTS went on hiatus in the final phase, allowing the band members to pursue individual projects while two of them began their mandatory military service.
In South Korea, military service is compulsory for all able-bodied men, for a minimum period of 18 months. Jin became the first member of the band to join the military service, before J-Hope, who began his service in April 2023.
