Former US President Donald Trump considered that CNN “did the right thing” by hosting him at a (town hall) event on Wednesday night.
Trump, the frontrunner so far in the Republican primary, took part in a CNN town hall hosted by Caitlan Collins, where the network faced sharp criticism for giving the former president a prime-time speaking platform.
“I was happy to do that,” Trump told Fox News.
-He also added, “CNN is under a lot of pressure and I think they did the right thing by having me and all you have to do is look at their great reviews,” adding, “It was an honor to do that.”
-Fox News reported Thursday that CNN is facing “a wave of criticism” from its staff for hosting Trump.

“We live in a Democratic Republic and Trump is the frontrunner for the Republican nomination, and it’s not the media’s job to silence a politician they don’t like,” one of the network’s employees told Fox News. “The format was messy, but voters need to hear from both major candidates. And by the way, Trump did what she wanted.” His base, but his performance last night was clear to the moderates and those who are reluctant to make a decision.
A spokesperson for the network said, “Caitlan Collins set an example of what it means to be a world-class journalist. She asked tough, fair and revealing questions.”
Network CEO Chris Licht also defended the decision Thursday morning in a call with staff, according to former CNN media correspondent Brian Stelter.
