Geography has always been a curriculum that accompanies students throughout the school years, represented in the names of capitals, latitude and longitude, and maps that need keys to read, in addition to many numbers and definitions.
In the 14th edition of the Sharjah Children’s Reading Festival, students, young and old, can find a simplified curriculum and interactive means that help them understand geography, read an atlas with interactive images, and encyclopedias of world geography in a simplified manner, in addition to publications and means that use the “learning by playing” method.
Walking around the corridors of the Sharjah Children’s Reading Festival, visitors can find the “Illustrated Atlas” in the “Kutub House for Trade” pavilion. It is a simplified illustrated atlas of world maps that helps children understand maps and read their keys easily.
This atlas, intended for children between the ages of 9 and 12, presents an exciting tour of maps drawn by the famous artist Anthony Lewis.
Under the title “Emerging Atlas”, the “Arab Science House” presents maps using the latest computer technologies to create a reference that is full of useful information in a fun way for use at home and at school, and is accompanied by a gift (a large poster of the world map). To enhance the information contained in the atlas in an easy-to-understand manner for young people, each map is decorated with colorful graphics, pictures and symbols.
The wanderer in the festival can find the book “The World”, which is an illustrated atlas for children from the publications of “Dar Thaqafa for Publishing and Distribution”, which aims to introduce children and young people to the geography of the world. Entertaining and useful activities to increase their knowledge about world civilizations.
Dar Al-Shamal International, from Lebanon, is presenting a book called “The Geographical Encyclopedia”, a book that includes a new method for exploring the natural world based on encouraging children to understand geography through accurate direct texts and clear diagrams.
