The Minister of Culture, Judge Muhammad Wissam al-Murtada, representing Prime Minister Najib Mikati, inaugurated the sponsorship of the 49th Annual Book Fair of the Cultural Association in Tripoli at its headquarters, in the presence of the Minister of Information Ziyad al-Makari, the Mufti of Tripoli and the North Sheikh Muhammad Tariq Imam and a number of deputies.

In his speech, Minister Al-Mortada pointed out to “the importance of organizing this event in Tripoli half a century ago and at the fixed annual date, especially since the book is one of the most important means of acquiring knowledge and spreading awareness in the minds.”

And he said: “It is not surprising, my beloved ones. Tripoli is the oak of Lebanon steadfast in the face of the wind, spreading its greenery of love in every direction, and residing on its most beautiful titles: Al-Fayhaa, the second capital of Lebanon, the city of knowledge and scholars, and the mother of the poor. For half a century, it has been celebrating an appointment Annually fixed with the book, added to its daily appointments with thought, culture and creativity, and this is only because its people are aware that knowledge is the path of all human beings to awareness, which is the first and last goal of every cognitive activity, and that the book is one of the most important means of acquiring knowledge and spreading awareness in minds. “

Al-Murtada said: “The truth is that we in the Ministry of Culture have made “Raising Awareness” a slogan for us and a platform for action, out of our confidence that times of crisis require both officials and citizens to have a high degree of general awareness of what surrounds them and befalls them, and to look at their reality with a keen eye. Insight, science, sound analysis, and accurate understanding glimmer in them, so that they are able to overcome what they are in to reach what is hoped for, and this applies to all fields in politics, culture, economics, and others.

He continued: “The basis for what we seek is to confirm that the book is not a possession that decorates homes, but rather it is a source of knowledge. That is why Tripoli, and the rest of the Lebanese regions as well, have always surrounded the book fairs that are held in them with a group of cultural activities, in which the interested elite gather, and they are also As a means of spreading the awareness that we call for, so that no one thinks that these high-end events are only buying and selling markets, while what is required is that they be platforms for enlightenment.”

Al-Murtada concluded by saying: “I return to Tripoli, which will be the capital of Arab culture for the year 2024. I assure you that the administrative structures for the proper management of this important event will see the light very, very soon. We hope that the next book fair, God willing, will be an important part of that event.” May all your efforts be blessed, especially the efforts of the Cultural League in Tripoli, the organizer of this exhibition. May God keep Tripoli faithful to the methodology of the Rashid Martyr, a city of knowledge, faith, values and openness, and perpetuate it dearly and proudly in the Arab East. You all lived, and so did Lebanon.”
